Need in energy resources
In recent discussions at the Second International Twinning conference, the pressing issue of power shortages in Ukraine has taken center stage. The Ukrainian energy infrastructure, with 70% of its components damaged by targeted missile and drone attacks, is now grappling with daily power outages resulting in disrupted water and heating supply. Projections indicate that these outages could extend up to 12 hours during the cold autumn and winter months, severely affecting the education process.
To address this critical need, we are launching a campaign to raise funds for purchasing generators to ensure that university dormitories and lecture halls remain operational. These generators are essential for maintaining a stable learning environment, providing necessary warmth and electricity.
We are committed to sending 100 generators to Ukrainian universities to ensure students have the power and heat necessary to continue their studies and maintain safe, warm living conditions.
We are specifically seeking diesel generators in the 60-80 kW range, suitable for outdoor use with three-phase connections. The estimated cost for each generator is £17,000-18,000, which includes furniture for installation, installation services, and a warranty period of 1-2 years.
Our efforts are coordinated in partnership with the "Charitable Foundation for Reconstruction and Support of Mariupol State University," which has a proven track record through the Twinning initiative, supported by the University of Hull. Additionally, one philanthropic organisation has generously agreed to double every pound donated to this cause, making every contribution even more impactful.
